About William Campbell
William moved from South Carolina to Kentucky, to Ohio, to Indiana. He was elected from Switzerland Co. to the Indiana House of Representatives 1827-28. In 1819 he served as Switzerland Count Commissioner. He was the first postmaster and was Justice of the Peace in Switzerland Co. Served in War of 1812. His frst land patents in Switzerland Co. were entered in 1814. William was "the first merchant of note" in the town.
