William died on the 19th of March 1946, at the ripe old age of 94. He is buried at Mount Jerome cemetery Dublin 6 in the same grave as his first and second wives and his infant son Gerald. His tombstone bears the following inscription:

This is the Last Will and Testament of me William Campbell Of “Deamore”, Old Finglis Road Glasneven In the County of the city of Dublin made this Eleventh day of August in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and forty one I hereby revoke all Wills by me at any time heretofore made. I appoint Mr. Joseph Lemon of 26 Cramore road to be my Executor; but should He find himself unable or unwilling to act as such I appoint Mr. Victor Campbell of “Carnpeena”[?], Baily, Howth County Dublin to be my Executor. And direct that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid as soon as possible after my decease.

I hereby give and bequeath Unto my sister Harriet Campbell, the sum of eight hundred pounds. I bequeath to my daughters Ethel Agnes, wife of Richard Cox residing in 8341 de Gaspé street, Montreal, the sum of Six hundred and fifty pounds. I bequeath to my daughter Ellen Mary, wife of Joseph Lemon (for whom provision exists should she be left widow) the sum of Five Hundred pounds. I bequeath to my sister-in-law Susie, widow of my brother Alfred Campbell the sum of One hundred pounds. I bequeath the sum of Fifty pounds to the Foreign Missions Fund of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, to be paid to the financial secretly for the time being, in the Presbyterian Church House Belfast. I direct that the bequest to my sister-in-law, Mrs. Alfred Campbell be paid to her free of legal duty. The rest of my property at time of death, after payment of Estate duties and expenses connected with obtaining Probate of this Will and giving effect to its provisions, I bequeath to my son Arthur William. This will include such invested funds as it may not be necessary to realise, my home and furniture – except such articles in the house as are the property of my sister - also all cash balances remaining over after payment of the special bequests above mentioned ---------------------------

          All my property of which I am at present in possession is in Dublin but immediately at my death another asset will become part of my estate. This is a fully paid up Policy  of Insurance on my life amounting to £758 ( seven hundred and fifty eight pounds) payable by the North British and Mercantile Insurance Company in London.
