About William Levi Carr, Sr.
William and his first wife, Nancy (Lee) raised a family of twelve children. Nancy died in 1849 when the youngest child, Alzena, was four or five years old; but all twelve children lived to adulthood and married. William married a second wife, Charlotte (Holst); and they had one child, a daughter named Lucy. Lucy was probably named after William's sister, Lucy. (Comment by Norma (Aubey) Lewis.)
She was also nicknamed "the diamond Lady" because she loved to wear diamond jewelry. She asked William to bury her diamonds with her if she died first and when she did, he kept his promise, but her grave was later robbed when word got out that there were diamonds buried with her.
