About William Jenkins Carter

The Carter family home and mercantile are shown in the picture under the Media Tab. It was taken from Ancestry.com. The caption shown there says:

"Home on left was William and Mary Rollins Lightner Carter's house, in Minersville, Utah. Adam Lightner, Mary Elizabeth Rollins Lightner and aunt Gilbert (Elizabeth Van Benthuysen Gilbert, the sister of Keziah Ketura Van Benthuysen) all lived there. Aunt Gilbert was the wife of Algernon Sidney Gilbert. They were living in this house when Adam died. The store was later owned by the Dotson's, then Proyor's."

A second photo shows the family of William Jenkins Carter, and another photo shows a close-up view of the brick storefront mentioned above, with a caption that states:

"This was Mary Rollins Lightner Carter's store before she sold it to the Dotsons. The people in standing are not known except the man on the far right Is Rubin Dotson."
