William (Charker) Chalker [Convict "Coromandel" 1802]

William CHALKER / CHARKER was born 16/12/1774 Winchester, UK. He was the son of Edward CHARKER and Elizabeth BARR (14th child of 15)

William was convicted of theft and sentenced to 7 years transportation. He arrived in Sydney Cove on 13/6/1802 on "Coromandel"

In 1803 he married Mary KEARNS and they divorced in 1807.

In 1808 he began a relationship with Elizabeth SHACKLE and they had the following children

• Mary Ann 1818
• George 1821
• Frederick 1823 NOTE: Elizabeth's son Daniel SHACKLE was raised as Daniel CHALKER

William died 2 February 1823 Parramatta aged 48 and is buried at St John's Cemetary (Some opinions say date of death was 21-2-1823)
