Funeral Service Held Here For William J. Cope
Funeral services for William Jacob Cope, 50, were held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the Globe Memorial Chapel, with Bishop Heber J. Pace of the Globe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating.
Mr. Cope died suddenly last Friday morning in the Miami-Inspiration Hospital. He had been a timberman for the Miami Copper Company for 16 years.
Born in Cope, Oklahoma, then Indian Territory, Mr. Cope came to Arizona 30 years ago. He resided in Safford for five years before coming to Globe. He was a member of Globe Elks Lodge, No. 489.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Effie May Cope, 388 So. Devereaux St., Globe; two daughters, Mrs. Glenna Starkey and Miss Nerita Fay Cope, both of Globe; three brothers, Frank and Lawson of Mesa, and Jess of Texas, five half-brothers, Truman, H.T. and Joe, Salt Lake City; John, Thatcher; and Ernest, Houston, TX.; and four sisters, Mrs. Callie Hagert and Mrs. Annie Harless, Phoenix; Mrs. Essie Wallace, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Mary Tolman, Maywood, Calif.; a half-sister, Mrs. Tessie Teffteller of Gilmer, Texas; and one grandchild.
Interment was in Pinal Cemetery.
