For most of his life William was a hard drinking and very dissolute man temporarily loosing his holdings to a conservator. At about age 60 he thought to experience religion, which so changed his live that he becamea very prudent and exemplary man, abandoned his drinking habits, and regain possession of his holdings of which he became a very prudent and careful manager.
