William Douglas, Earl of Queensbury, 9th Feudal Baron of Drumlanrig.

Sir William was born circa 1582 and married Isobel Ker, daughter of Lord Newbottle. In 1628, Sir William entertained King James VI at his mansion in 1628, and was created Viscount Drumlanrig, and in 1633, Earl of Queensberry. He was the father of 4 sons and 2 daughters including James, eldest son and heir, and Sir William of Kelhead, whose descendants would figure quite prominently in the future of the Queensberry line. He died on 8 MAR 1638/39
