Lamar County Alabama was originally Marion Co. AL

William Duncan, son of Marshall and Betsey Denston Rogers, was born between 1764-1784, exact date and location unknown, (probably in Rowan, North Carolina and most likely about 1765 vs Mecklenburg)

Birth confusion - William told Grandson he was born M'lenberg. (Timeline of parents suggests Rowan NC - distance is only 35-40 miles difference for NC).William married Ruth (Gregory or Granger/Grainger). No Marriage bond found to confirm correct name, date or location. Marriage most likely about 1790.

The Gregory's had roots in Lunenburg County; which is one reason to think that Ruth was a Gregory and not a Granger. Ruth is shown on the 1830 census as "Ruthy". Six males under 20 years and 1 female under 14 years living with Ruth.
