About William P. Eaton
1819-1839 Born: Conway, Carroll, New Hampshire, United States Died: Thomaston, Knox, Maine, United States
William P Eaton Attended the Maine Wesleyan Seminary at Kent's Hill, Readfield, Maine. He alternated attending school with teaching to pay his way, and in 1839 he went to teach at East Thomaston, Maine. There he was in an argument with one of his pupils and he was stabbed and died of the wound. In the local newspaper the story was told in a poem written by a friend. The boy's mother cut it out the poem and pasted it inside the door of her big shelf clock, and there it stayed for 126 years, until it was taken out to be photographed in 1965.
