William ELLIOT, Sr. (L8P5-VCR) of South Carolina has been frequently and incorrectly combined with William ELLIOTT, Sr. (LVFT-Q7Q) of North Carolina, as if they were the same person. These two families are not at all related, even though they have several names in common which have confused many descendants. This problem has multiplied like wild rabbits on FamilySearch, as well as on many sites and trees across the internet---viewer BEWARE!

A quick comparison should put an end to this problem.
