William Forbis Memorial .
Birth: Nov. 21, 1799 Death: Dec. 18, 1851 Cleveland County North Carolina, USA
William Forbis deeded 40 acres of land to help establish the city of Shelby on June 18, 1841. This land was used to start the Sunset Cemetery. He is buried about a mile to the west of Sunset on the city park property. To be exact, the tiny cemetery he is buried in is located beside the fairway of the golf course on the park property.
