William Gault migrated to New England during the Puritan Great Migration (1620-1640).

Biography

William born about 1608, was aged 29 and of Yarmouth, Norfolkshire, England when passing the exam to come to New England in 1637. [1] [2] He came, unmarried, on the ship Mary Anne embarking on May 11. 1637. [3]

On July 16, 1638, William was received as an inhabitant at Salem, MA and was granted 10 acres. He was a cordwainer and resided on Charter Street in Salem. [3]

His wife was named Mary and by ages of their daughters as mentioned in the administration of his estate, they were married prior to 1641.

William died at Salem, MA on April 1, 1659 at Salem. [4] [5]

The administration of the estate June 26, 1660, of William Golt, of Salem, MA who died intestate, was granted to his widow, Mary. [Salem Quarterly Court Records: Vol 4; leaf 39]. In the estate are mentioned their daughters, Rebecca aged 19 years, Deborah aged about 15 years and Sara aged about 13. [Essex Co. Quarterly Court Files: Vol. 5: leaf 112] (Vol. 1: p. 315)[6]

His widow Mary Gault, married secondly, Richard Bishop on July 22, 1660. [4][5]

After Richard Bishop's death, she married thirdly, Thomas Robins Mar. 11, 1674/5.[4] [5]

Rebecca born about 1641; married John Bly/Bligh at Salem on Nov. 11, 1663. [5] [6][3]

Deborah born about 1645; baptized at Salem on Sept. 10, 1648; married Edward Winter on Nov. 17, 1669. [5] [6][3]
