William was Representative in 1652, Secretary of New Haven Colony in 1657, and Assistant in 1661. He died in 1663; his will dated 6 August 1662 names nine children. William Gibbard lived near Stratford, Warwick Co., England, before immigrating to New England. He d. Aug 9, 1662. William Gibbard m. Anne Tapp, dau of Mr. Edmund Tapp; she d. 1701; she m. 2) Dec 7, 1665, Williams Andrews. Lieut. John Nash and James Bishop were appointed overseers of the New England estate; William's brother Timothy Gibbard of Calladownhouse, near Coventy, and Francis Smith of Stratford to be overseers of the estate in England.
