William James Gray died of blood poisoning. Location: Dalby.
The death of Mr William James Gray, an old and respected resident of Dalby, occurred yesterday, after a very short illness, from blood poisoning, at the age of 59 years. On January 25, Mr. Gray rode home some 25 miles, not being well, and on consulting Dr. H. L. Hawthorne, was ordered to his bed. The late Mr. Gray was a native of New South Wales; being born at St. Albyns, and arrived in the Dalby district over 40 years ago. For some time he was employed on Loudoun station, and for more than 18 years has been a valued servant of the Wambo Shire Council as ganger. The late Mr. Gray married Miss Catherine Wall (Dalby) in 1881, and the issue of the marriage was five daughters and three sons. One daughter (Cecilia) predeceased her father about two years ago. The daughters living are Mrs. Walter Tuckey (Hemerah), Mrs O'Callaghan (Dalby), Mrs T Hoffman (Dalby), and Miss Ivy, and the sons are William, Michael, and John, all of Dalby. Mr Gray was for over 30 years a member of the M.U.I.O.O.F. The funeral took place to the Dalby cemetery this morning, the Rev.
