Grissom, William Samuel. Southern Standard. Thursday, June 28, 1934. William Samuel Grissom died at his home near Rock Island in the Fourth District, Thursday, June 21, at the age of 87. Funeral services were held at the Mount Vernon Church, Saturday, June 23rd with interment being made in Mount Vernon Cemetery under the direction of the McMinnville Funeral Home. The deceased was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Grissom, August 21, 1933. He is survived by four sons: Savage, Cleveland, Phillip, and Will Grissom of McMinnville and two daughters; Mrs. Belle Pope and Mrs. Ella Miller. The six grandsons acted as pallbearers; Luther, Leonard, Raymond, and Denton Grissom, and Theron, Pope, and Melton Miller.
