Disambiguation

[Note: Dispute RE: daughter Rebecca: Some sources indicate he had a daughter Rebecca who married John Whitten/Whiden of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, while others make no connection of that Rebecca Hackett to this William Hackett of Amesbury and Salisbury. William of Salisbury makes no mention of a daughter Rebecca in his will. She was more likely the daughter of William Hackett of Dover. That Rebecca was living in 1719 at Portsmouth. See: Essex Genealogist, Volume 16, 1996 ]

[Caution:: It appears that many older texts have confused details of the two early William Hackett's together, attributing life events in Dover, NH and other locales, to the William of Salisbury, which likely pertain to the other William]
