DEATH OF WM. HALL William Hall, Sr., one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of the town of Ashford, died at his home this morning at four o’clock, after an illness of the past four months, from dropsy. (old-fashioned term for congestive heart failure)
Mr. Hall was born in Germany, on the Rheine, on April 22, 1839, and had he lived a few days longer would have been seventy-nine years old. He came to America when nine years of age and settled in the town of Ashford where he has made his home ever since.
Two sons and seven daughters survive him, they are: Sister Magdeline of St. Joseph’s hospital, in Milwaukee; Sister Loyola of Cape Girodeau, Mo.; Sister Verananda of Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. Henry Pierrott of Ashford, Mrs. Henry Mauel of Fond du Lac, Mrs. J. E. Lorech of Cudahy and Mrs. J. W. Schlaefer of Campbellsport, William Hall of LeRoy and Leonard Hall, residing on the homestead, besides twenty-seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from St. Martin’s church in Ashford, Saturday morning at 10 o’clock, Rev. Father Toeller will officiate.
