William Hamilton of Sanquar is the son of Sir William Hamilton of Sorn and Sanquhar. 24 January 1576-77: Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Gavin Nasmyth, Clerk of Glasgow diocese, notary public, narrating the Sasine given by Edward Wallace of Sewaltowne, bailie depute of Kile-stewart, to John Vas, servant and as attorney of John Conyghame of Conyghameheid (appointed by royal letters of attorney dated at Edinburgh, 24 Apr 1576), of the 2 1/2 merklands of Knokindaill, in the barony of Symentowne, bailiary of Kile-stewart and sheriffdom of Air. On Precept from Chancery dated at Edinburgh 19 Sep 1575 A.R.10; proceeding on the narrative that Dame Jean Campbell conjunct fiar thereof and William Hammiltowne of Sanchar her son, fiar thereof had by other letters been commanded to give Sasine thereof to said John Conyghame and had disobeyed.
