About William Hazlett
GEDCOM Note
The body discovered by Mr John Graham at Mataura Island on Wednesday morning, inwhich vicinity it had been washed up by the recent floods, was yesterday identified as that of WILLIAM HAZLETT. HAZLETT was a resident of Myross Bush, where he resided with his mother. He was a young man, unmarried, and was well known throughout Southland. In New Zealand trotting circles he was a familiar figure, being associated with this branch of the turf as part owner of the crack tow-year-old trotting cold, Michael Galindo. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition and to expedite burial was viewed by the coroner last evening. An inquest into the circumstances surrounding deceased’s death will be held at a later date.
