In the records of the Dutch Reformed Church, Bensalem, Bucks Co. Penn. under the heading of "Entries made by Elder Christophel Van-Zandt, during the Ministry of Rev. Malachi Jones 1719 - 1722:, there is a list of "newcomers from Earland" who joined the church in which we find:
1719 - Willem Pecken and his wife, by certificate.
1720 - Iserell Pecken by profession.
1722 - Margaret Pecken by profession (From: Bolton's "Scotch-Irish Pioneers)
In the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania Publications under, Reformed Church, (Neshaminy) Bensalem, Bucks Co.: No. 5, 1812-14.
p. 35 "New Church Members from Ireland, Nov. 4, 1722" "The new members from Ireland have been received on letter of attestation and have now become chosen Elders - William Pickens and his wife"
p. 36 "Israel Pickens, by profession of faith" " Margaret Pickens, communicant" June 6, 1724.
It must be remembered that the period of two years difference may account for the old custom of keeping all members on probaration for two years. And now to better understand the situation at Bensalem we quote from "History of Bucks County Pennsylvania" by J.H. Battle. Page 473.
Children of William Pickens and Margaret Pike:
WILLIAM PICKENS, tradditional son of ROBERT and JEAN BONNEAU PICKENS, may have been born in France, and came with his parents to North Ireland, where he was married.
MARGARET, his wife is said by some to have been Margaret Pike (traditional).
There children appear to have been:
1. Israel Pickens - m Martha ________? died in Charlotte Co. VA. in 1749.
2. Andrew Pickens - m. Nancy Davis, died 1756 in Waxhaw settlement, S.C.
3. John Pickens - m. Eleanor ______? - lived last in Abbeville Dist. S.C.
4. Lucy Pickens - m. Matthew Gillespie, m(2) John Kerr.
5. Gabriel Pickens - m. Zerubiah ______? Died in Abbeville Dist. S.C.
6. Robert Pickens - m. Mariam (Davis?) died in Pendleton Dist. S.C.
7. William - m.(1) Elizabeth __? m(2)Mrs Ann Scott d. Montgomery Co. VA.
8. Margaret Pickens - "ye younger". One acconts says she married a Ramsey. {John}
William Henry Pickens was born in France in 1670. In 1685, at the age of 14/15, he fled France with his parents after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes which had given Protestants some religious rights in the predominately Catholic country (for details see link below). They went to Scotland (his father's place of birth) for a short time before immigrating to Ulster, Northern Ireland where three of his six sons were born.
About 1719, after over 30 years in Ireland, William Henry and his wife, the former Margaret Pike, immgrated from Ireland to Buck's County, PA with most, if not all, of their 9 children. Records (1719-1721) of the Dutch Reformed Church of Bensalem and Neshaminy, Bucks County, PA (near Philadelphia) identify them as recent immigrants from Ireland. The records (in Dutch) include "William Peckens eyn hausfrau and Israel Peckens eyn hausfrau" on a list of "Newcomers from Eerlandt" received by certificate during the ministry of Reverend Malachi Jones. The "Israel Peckens" referred to is either William's brother or son .
It was the custom of the Dutch Reformed Church to keep all new members on probation for 2 years. William Henry and his wife were admitted on 4 November 1722. The Dutch were the first settlers in the area to provide themselves with church privileges. In 1710, the 15 members of the church all had Dutch surnames. By the time the Pickens family arrived 10 years later, church membership had increased to 42. Twenty-seven of these 42 were Scotch-Irish. Soon the English language and Presbyterian practices were used in church services.
Like many other immigrants, William Henry was Irish with Scottish roots and was thus referred to as "Scotch-Irish."

One of at least three sons born to Robert Andrew and Ester Jeanne (Widow Benoit aka Lady le Bonneau) of France, William married Margaret Pike in 1692 in Ireland. They immigrated to America in 1719, joining the Dutch Reform Church in Bensalem, Bucks Co PA.
