William Hodgson, owned a lot of land in the village and a farm house standing at the top of Stang Lonning, now station road. He was said to have had a family of 21 twice. The 21st died, another was born, and so there was twice 21.
In 1841 Census occupation listed as Farmer
Curwen Estates experimental Schoose Farm, Workington, Cumberland. He had a grandson, g.grandson, g.g.grandson, and g.g.g. grandson, who were all practising veterinary surgeons in the parish of Brigham. Also his son Joseph when qualified as a vet left for travels to Australia and NZ. He ended up staying and getting married in NZ where for a time was a practicing vet.

Mso William, their Son who died the 31st of July, 1834, aged 14 Years. Also Thomas their Son who died December 2nd 1835 a^ed 7 Years. Also Mary the second Wife of Wilham Hodgson, who died June the 3? 1861, aged 43 Years. Also Ann Cooper Hodgson their Daughter, who died at Flimby Jany. 16th 1862, aged 28 Years. Apr 9 1871
