From Sept.28th, 1776 to June 14th, 1778 he served as Quartermaster Sergeant.
Deed Book 5, page 139 in Rowan County, N.C.: Dated 10 May 1762 William Hopper acquired a Land Grant from Lord Granville for 510 acres on both sides of Matrimony Creek, the waters of the Dan River, adjoining lands of Abraham James. A year later, on the 24th of March, he conveyed part of this tract, 252 acres to Joseph Scales. (at that time Rockingham County was part of Rowan County)
William, Sr. was deceased by Feb. 1783.
At that time William Hopper, Jr. and his wife Catherine, conveyed to Thomas Hopper 185 acres of land on the North side of Matrimony Creek.
