Market gardener,nurseryman & seedsman of some repute, winning prizes at Midlands agricultural shows, and by 1860 W H Caparn & Son, at their King's Road Nurseries, had become one of the major horticultural firms in the Midlands.

In 1844 he was appointed Auditor to the Borough of Newark; he also served as Parish Clerk, and was Actuary to the Newark Savings Bank.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership between us tb.3 undersigned, William Homer Caparn, of ^Kirk-gate, Newark, and Thomas John Caparn, of King's- "road, Newark, both in the county |of Nottingham, and carrying on business under the name of W. H. Caparn and Son, Ssed Merchants and Nurserymen, has this day been dissolved by mutual consent.—Dated this 21st day of January, 1864. W. H. Caparn. Thomas J. Caparn.
