About William's death date:

cites Alton J. Lipps "House Family of Frederick County. Md." from Western Maryland Genealogy, Vol. 8 from "Monocacy and Catoctin - Early Settlers 1725-1985 - Vol. 1" C.E. Schildknecht, Editor - P.92-94.

It contains:

His last will was signed on 8 October 1818 which he must have changed. George House (oldest son), Perry Rice (whose daughter married a grandson of George). and Joel Jacobs (who married Rachel Tucker, William's granddaughter) petitioned the court to have William declared insane. A Sheriff's jury questioned William at his home on 11 Dec. 1818 and declared him "non compos mentis." William's attorneys, Roger Brooke Taney, John Nelson, and Frederick Schley, petitioned the Chancery Court on 12 March 1819 to set aside the verdict because it was based on one question he misunderstood and answered incorrectly and a response the jury misunderstood; William was described as "hard of hearing and imperfect in his utterances." He died on 1 May 1819 before the court ruled on his petition.

William and most likey the other HOUSE family was to have been buried in the Frederick Evangical Lutheran Church Cemetery (Frederick City), his wife may have been buried there too within the family plots.

The cemetery was dismantled sadly enough in July - 1906. The recorded names have never been found ever again.

Inscription:

His original grave stone before it disappeared said the following...

In Sure In Certain Hope Of The Resurrection Of This Life Sleepeth Here William House, A Native Of Elsass (Alsace) In Germany Whence He Emigrated To This Town Anno Domini 1750. He Departed This Life 1 March A.D. 1822 Aged 89-3-3.

This Find-A-Grave page has a reproduction of a rubbing of the stone with inscription. The inscription would place his birth date at about 30 Nov 1732.

Find-A-Grave also says his wife Sarah died in 1818.
