Hugh Beardsley was baptized on 31 October 1582, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, son of Thomas Beardsley and Jane Upton (who were marriedthere in 1581). The name "William Hugh" that is prevalent on many trees is most likelyan incorrect merging of Hugh and his son William's given names. The use of middle names had not been adopted during this person's lifetime.The sources for the marriage of Margaret Hassall give "Hugh Beardsley" as the spouse.

Death ===Unsourced information has Hugh Beardsley's death as occurring on Jan. 26, 1632 in Lyme, Grafton, New Hampshire. There are no source records of his supposed emigration from England to the American colonies , nor any source records of his death date or location. It is most likely he died in England. It should be noted that the date give forhis death is three years before his son William immigrated, 1635.
