About William Waldo Hyde
William Waldo Hyde was a lawyer and a Democratic politician in Connecticut. He served one term as Mayor of Hartford, from April 4, 1892 through April 2, 1894. He ran again 1900 but was defeated.

The Waldo-Hyde family was deeply involved in Democratic politics at the local, state, and national levels. William Waldo Hyde's maternal grandfather, Loren Pinckney Waldo, was a state judge and U.S. Congressman. Alvan Pinney Hyde, William's father, was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1892. William's brother Frank Eldridge Hyde was a member of the Connecticut General Assembly and the U.S. Consul to Lyon.
