Bailey Dies at Surveyor; Rites IncompleteWilliam Irvin Bailey, 82, Surveyor, died at 9:20 a.m. at his residence.Born Aug. 15, 1868 in Wyoming Co., he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matt Bailey. A resident of Raleigh Co for 37 years, he was a member of the Coal march Baptist Church. Before his retirement he last worked with the Ritter Lumber Co. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife, Belle Shumate Bailey, in 1948.Survivors include three sons, Okey Lee and Woodrow, Surveyor, and Speed Bailey, Glen Rogers; eight daughters, Mrs. Gus Manning, Fairdale; Mrs. Richard Hendricks, Glen Daniel; Mrs. Emmett Deck, MacArthur; Ms. Clyde Jarrell, Dorothy; Mrs. Ray Stover, Dameron; Mrs. George Cozart and Mrs. George Duncan, Sabine; Mrs. Amos Tolliver, Mount Hope; one brother, Bob Bailey, Slab Fork; three half-brothers, John and Wilbert, Glen Fork; and Dan, Pine Grove.The body is at the Calfee Funeral Home pending completion of arrangements.
