William Kelly was a big man, 6 ft. 6 inches. In his early years he was a fighter, nicknamed Spider, because they said his hands were as big as spiders. Travelled to Canada during the depression and worked on farms out west to feed his family. He was left unpaid by one farmer until he took it upon himself to throw a few punches and demand his payment. The farmer paid. Ancestory is Irish, how he came to Scotland is not known. By all accounts, he was a hardworking man who stood by his family.
