1782 - Montgomery County North Carolina Tax list – William Kendall listed as an invalid (record exists in North Carolina State Archives).

1788 - William Kindall elected to represent Montgomery County in the North Carolina Constitutional Convention of 1788.

1789  - William Kendall served in the North Carolina Senate.

1829 Will executed for William Kendall in Montgomery county North Carolina (the actual record is a deed that was made by the executors of his will

It is believed William's wife was Sarah Elms, but no supporting documentation has been found. There is an Edward Elms in Halifax, North Carolina in the 1780s and 1790s. Elms could be a variation on Nelms, Elams or Helms. Are there any connections to the Elam family in Chesterfield, Virginia.
