About William Lawrence

HISTORICAL: Notes for EDWARD LARRAncE: Edward lived in Northumberland County Virginia and owned land there, which he and his wife Sarah sold in 1738 before moving to Prince William County Virginia The St. Stephens Parish records of Northumberland record the births of Edward's daughters, Sarah and Winifred. In Prince William, Edward lived in that section which became Fauquier County in 1759. Edward did not fight in the Revolutionary War, but he did supply beef for the cause. Consequently, descendants of Edward are eligible for the DAR and SAR. Edward left a will, dated 1783, probated March 1786 Fauquier County , which names 8 children plus one grandson, Rodham Tullos Lawrence . The parents of Rodham are not known. Furthermore, Edward had a number of grandchildren living by the time he wrote his will, so it is worthwhile to question why only one grandchild was mentioned. It may be that the father of Rodham was another son of Edward who had died before 1783.
