WILL: Virginia REV. WAR STATE PENSIONS, Virginia GEN. SOC. (G975.5/Rev/21.28): file 217 for Josiah Jenkins. Fauquier court records 1787-89, widow Ann Jenkins, Richmond, 23 Mar 1810. Jeremiah Strother made oath that Ann never received a pension after moving from Fauquier to Culpepper County upwards of 20 years ago. Certificate authorizing pension approved by Exec. 1787-1813.

WILL: Following from Anna Mack Martin, e-mail 7 Aug 1997: A will was not found for Richard, but in Barren,KY Order Book 4B-5, p 54, John Cole was appointed administrator for the estate of Richard Lawrence by the May Court, 1829. In the same Order Book, p57, the Dec. Court 1829 reported the sale of Richard's estate. On p80, the Apr. Court 1830 appointed John Martin, James Duff, Franklin Settle and Jesse Morris as commissioners to settle the estate. The inventory of Richard's personal property was made on 30 May 1829. The appraisers were James Duff, Benjamin Martin, Nathan Martin and Jesse Morris. The estate was considerable, consisting of 16 slaves, 5 horses, 17 sheep and 4 lambs, 17 cattle and 4 calves, 23 head of hogs and other miscellaneous items amounting to about $5,000. Barren County, Kentucky, Mortgage Book No. 1, 1829-1833 by Gladys Benedict Wilson, Glasgow, Kentucky 1979, p. 21 had the following release in it, but Anna was unable to find the original: Lawrence to Lawrence - Release - page 57 Barren County, Kentucky--Know all men by these presents that we, Walter Laurance, Willis Lawrance, Argible Laurance, Walter Laurance, (this needs to be checked in the original), James Thompson, and Robert Wheatley the heirs of Richard Larrence, Dec'd. do by these presents give grant & Release to our beloved Sister Sally Larrence all our rite title & interest in & to the land our father died in possession of, to her and her heirs forever; it being our father's will, Wish and desire. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 6th day of August 1829.
