William E. Lenz, age 88, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on September 6, 1925, in rural Fennimore, the son of Herman and Annie (Kitelinger) Lenz.

William attended various country schools.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946.

On December 24, 1947, William was united in marriage to Ruth Irish. After their marriage he farmed until 1970.

William then was employed with Larry's Welding and drove milk truck until his retirement in 1982.

He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include: …his children: ……Ron (Mary) Lenz, Lancaster; ……Deb Lenz, Stitzer; ……Jeff (Carla) Lenz, Lancaster; …one grandson, ……Adam Lenz, Lancaster; and …one sister, ……Ruby Lenz, Lancaster.

In addition to, William was preceded in death by: …his parents, Herman and Annie Lenz , …his wife, Ruth, and …one brother and …five sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will be in Liberty Ridge Cemetery, Liberty Ridge Township.
