As a Mid-Western Frontier Pioneer & Homesteader, William Jerome Loder Sr. made an impact filled decision to leave his home that was carved out of the Ohio Wilderness by his own accomplished Pioneer parents Aaron Loder Sr. & Rebecca (Darling) Loder alongside his many siblings. William Jerome Loder was Born as the 7th of 11 children to Aaron & Rebecca Loder, on November 11, 1841 in Coshocton County, Ohio and was named in honor of his Paternal Uncle, William Loder, brother of Aaron Loder.
In September of 1887 William J. Loder, his wife Lucinda "Lucy" Ann (Cray) Loder & 8 of their children left Coshocton County, Ohio to travel among a Wagon Train departing for Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas to take full advantage of the Homestead Act passed by Congress to influence American migration and population throughout the newly formed Mid-Western states that had just recently been Indian Territory until just 20 years prior.
Upon first arriving in Kansas late in the year of 1887, Mr. & Mrs. William Jerome Loder settled in Trego County, Kansas close to the town of Wakeeney, just West of the old Fort Hays. After close to 14 yrs spent there, as well as adding 2 more children to the brood, for a total of 10 children the Loder Family moved back East about 120 miles to a newly bought farm in Summit Township of Western Saline County, roughly 9 miles NNW of Marquette, Kansas.
