Name: William 'Old Curley Bill' Logsdon Birth: ABT 1743 in Frederick (now Carroll) Co., MD.


Alias: 'Old Curly Bill' Event: Migration ABT 1779 Maryland to area of Hogensville, KY. at Nolyn Station 5 Residence: as head of household ABT 1783 Nolyn Station, KY. Event: purchased 50 acres from his brother and Solomon Kessinger on Bacon Creek Land Purchase ABT 1801 Hardin Co., KY. Event: Tax ABT 1808 Hardin Co., KY. 7 Death: killed by Indians ABT 1809 in KY. Note: It is reported that William may have been the first of the Logsdon family into the area that became Kentucky. He lived in very remote and then wild areas that eventually included the area that became Larue Co., KY, and subsequently into the area of Hart Co., KY. It is reported that he took up residence near McCorkle Springs about one and one half mile from the present site of Mundfordville, near the Old Cut Road. It is reported that he also spent some time in the vincinity of the Little Barren River in the company of Big Joe Logsdon and his son Joseph 'Bulger Joe' Logsdon. Family tradition suggests that William was killed by Indians who appeared at his cabin out for revenge in about 1809. It is reported that his remains were mostly taken by wild hogs near the Little Barren River.
