William Maclellan, 4th Lord Kirkcudbright

William, fourth Lord Kirkcudbright, who succeeded to nothing but an empty title, and dying a child soon after his father, the honours devolved upon James MacLellan, the next heir-male, being nephew to John [Auchlane] the third lord.

Biographical Summary

"William, fourth Lord Kirkcudbright, who did not long enjoy the title, as he died 29 March 1668, a minor and unmarried. During his lifetime the whole estate of his father was seized by creditors. The succession then opened to the descendants of William Maclellan of Auchlane, second son of John Maclellan of Borgue, and brother of John, third Lord Kirkcudbright."
