• William Manchester, born perhaps 1675-80. He married before February 13/1716, Comfort --- of Dighton.
• Mary Manchester, b. circa 1676, died 1729. She married at Tiverton, as his second wife, Edward Gray, born January 3/1667, died circa June 7/1726, Tiverton.
• Deborah Manchester, b. 05 Oct 1677, Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island. She married Samuel Sanford, born October 5/1677, died September 3/1738.
• Elizabeth Manchester. b. 1679 Portsmouth, R.I. She married on December 27/1694, Ichabod Sheffield, born March 6/1669-70, died 1736.
• Sarah Manchester, b. circa 1680, died after 1718. She married in 1699, Edward Wilcox, born at Tiverton in 1675, died May 19 or 29/1718
• Margaret Manchester, born about 1682. She married in 1698-1700, Newport, R.I., Joseph Sherman, born February 11/1678-9, died 1755.
• Rebecca Manchester. b. ABT 1684
• Susannah Manchester, born between 1685 and 1693, died 1774, m. 1st, John Taber, born July 18/1684, died bef October 11/1728. She married, 2nd, on February 24/1732, Thomas Cory, who died in 1738.
• Amey Manchester, b. circa 1688, Portsmouth, R.I. She married Robert Bennett.
• John Manchester, b. BET 1685 AND 1695 - Portsmouth, RI; d. 1766, Tiverton, Newport, RI. m. Mary Brownell, b. March 29, 1693, East Greenwich, R.I., d. 1770, R.I.
• Thomas Manchester, born about 1704, d. Dec. 1788, m. 1st, on July 28/1720, Sarah Earl, b. at Little Compton, Dec. 18/1696, d. 1727-9. m. 2nd, on Aug. 15/1729, Elizabeth Jennings of Tiverton, born 1705.

It was this William Manchester of Tiverton, of whom perhaps, descended the greater number of the Manchesters who have lived in the town.

William Manchester.

Born at Portsmouth about 1654, died at Tiverton, October 15/1718. He married Mary Cooke, born 1650, daughter of John and Mary (Borden) Cooke, subject 694. He was a freeman of Portsmouth on April 9/1675, and removed to Pocasset where he joined in the purchase from Governor Josiah Winslow of Pocasset, lands at Tiverton and Little Compton in March 1679-80. Of the total 30 shares into which it was divided, he took five, which at the rate of œ100 for the whole, made his disbursement œ16. At the time of the foundation of Tiverton on March 2/1692, he removed there. He was a very wealthy man and his estate was inventoried at œ1586.O.0. He held numerous town offices, from Representative to the General Court of Massachusetts, to fence viewer.

"William Manchester (Thomas1), born in Portsmouth, R. I., about 1654, died in Tiverton, R. I., in 1718. He married Mary Cook, died after 1716, daughter of John (Thomas1) and Mary (Borden) Cook of Pocasset, Mass. (Austin.)
