E-mail from Jerry Taylor: Subj: Date: 03/20/2000 2:53:47 PM US Eastern Standard Time From: taylor_j_d@juno.com (Deanna K Taylor) To: MSMay96@aol.com Hi Sue, I had a little luck today. I'll pass it on in case your kids don't have it yet. I went to the Spencer Couty court house looking. I had found the 1910 Federal Census for Spencer County listed George and Adelia May. Among them was Robert K age 5. The 1920 Census did not show him but did show Herbert and Bernard as still living at home. I didn't think that Robert at the age of 15-16 would have left the nest yet. I started to look at deaths and found him. Spencer County death record Book R5 page 26 listed a Robt May son of Geo May and Adelia Gudgen as having died 15 Nov 1911 in Grass Township in Spencer County. It listed his birth as 28 Nov 1904 and he was 6 years old. Cause of death was Scarlet Fever and is buried in the Highland Cemetery. I found the birth records of the two un-named infants as follows: Spencer County birth record book R-4 Page 23: Child #2 of Adelia was a male born 11 Mar 1891. Record says he was born alive with no problems. Spencer County Birth record book R-4 Page 20: Child #3 of Adelia was a female born 19 Feb 1892. It too was born alive with no problems. I found no further record of them, death wise or other. I found no names. I am planning on going to the Highland Cemetery and giving it a good look-see. William Davis May, age 40, son of Robert Granville May died 17 Feb 1901 in Hammond Township in Spencer County. He was a teacher. He died from La Grippe. He was buried in the Fairview Cemetery 19 Feb 1901. I found a set of twins that were still-born to William D and Iola Carpenter: Child #2, Female, born 9 Jan 1892. Premature and stillborn. Child #3, Male, born on the same date and was stillborn. There was no indication on the disposition of the bodies. I did not find any other information. Jerry Additional info from a "Verified Transcript from the Registrar of Deaths" from the office of the registrar, Rockport, Spencer County, Indiana signed and dated by Becky Middleton, in the possession of Donald Scot May.Listed as a teacher on this document.
