William R. McMillan was born 12 May 1830 in North Carolina he migrate to Georgia in the Cartersville area about 1845.

He married Permelia VBaughan 17 July 1851 in Pine Log, Cass Co., Ga., the daughter of John Vaughan and Carey McCracken (Vaughan) who had six children:

1. Mary Magdalene,
2. Delilah,
3. Margaret Isabella,
4. William B.,
5. John Erstus and
6. Carey Ella.

His wife Permelia died Aug 1873 in Cartersville
