William Musgrove Hopley 1770 arrived at the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, in 1806, part of Sir Home Popham's squadron despatched to seize the Cape from the Dutch. He was later joined by his wife Mary Ann and two sons including William Musgrove Hopley 1796.
