William Nichols of Springfield appears to have been one of the early settlers of Brimfield, though he evidently died before the distribution of the land to the original proprietors, as Lot 8 is apportioned to "William Nichols 'heirs." The descendants were afterward large land owners from the Tower Hill road westward.
