William O'Shea, Sr.

Born in Portland , OR. His father was a CPO in the Navy. After retiring from the Navy, Bill's father moved the family to Rochester (Pgh ) PA Bill attended high school in Rochester, then joined the Army Air Corp in 1939 (circa) after a brief stint working on river boats. Having his enlistment extended due to the outbreak of WWll, Bill served in the Canary Islands off Africa building air fields. After the war, his family moved to Phila. and met his future wife Jane by accident at the family farm in Swencksville, PA. "Wild Bill" worked as a diesel engineer for Dravo Corp. and the Union Barge Line on vairous rivers including the Ohio, Monongahela, and Mississippi. Bill retired in 1980 and moved his family, Jane and Janie, to Sarasota FL where he lived out his life ideally picking oranges and grapefruit in his backyard and playing golf. His was an easy retirment with manhattens on the lanai each day watching the sunset in beautiful Sarasota.
