- He was married in 1779 to Maria de Windt Heyliger, who was born on 12 May 1764 and baptized on St. Eustatius on 30 May 1764, daughter of Pieter Heyliger and Adriana Margaretha de Windt. She died [before 22 September 1794. ] 10 July 1794 in Christiansted.
- He had a relationship in about 1795-1796 with Elizabeth Toske, who was born in about 1779.
- He was remarried on 9 July 1796, by the St. Croix Catholic Priest, to Ann O'Neill, who was born on 3 February 1778 in Frederiksted.
- He was a member of the Council of St. Croix, a Major (later Lieutenant-General) in the militia and Governor General of the Danish West Indies, 1814-1816.
- He died on 27 July 1827, at his estate Fredriksdal in Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, Denmark.
- Ann O’Neill Oxholm died on 16 August 1844 in Copenhagen.
