William P. “Bill” Pals, 77, of Teutopolis died at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at his home in Teutopolis.

   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery with full military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a 6:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary service. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Bauer Funeral Home, Teutopolis, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill was born April 6, 1934, in Effingham County, the son of Sylvester and Emma (Kabbes) Pals. He married Billie Jo Montgomery on July 6, 1957, and she survives.
Bill was a truck driver for Kabbes Trucking for 43 years. He was also a partner with his wife at Bill and Billie’s Tavern in Teutopolis from 1963 to 1971. His memberships include St. Francis of Assisi Church, Teutopolis, Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council 2478, Teutopolis American Legion Post 924 and VFW Post 1769 in Effingham.
Bill served 20 years on the Teutopolis Village Board and also served on the Effingham County Board of Appeals.
He also served an enlistment with the U.S. Army in Germany.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was well known for his annual Fourth of July party and fireworks display that he had held since 1965. He will also be greatly missed uptown in Teutopolis.
He is survived by his wife, Billie of Teutopolis, sons, Ronnie (Chris) Dorsey of Trunstadt, Germany, Wm. Carl (Donna) Pals of Teutopolis, Allen Pals of Bloomington and Kevin (Diane) Pals of Montrose; daughter, Cindie (Monique) Pals of Nashua, N.H.; brother, Earl (Rita) Pals of Teutopolis; sisters, Deloris (Norman) Hensley of Decatur; Marilyn Lueken of Marshall and Carol (Jim) Bloemer of Effingham; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary; and a brother, Jim.
