Hence friends came from all points of the compass to join in the celebration and add congratulations to this popular couple who have spent so many years in this community. The tables fairly groaned with the weight of the bountiful dinner brought by the guests, and to which full justice was done by those assembled. The guests did not leave until a late hour, and then only with regret that such happy celebrations must of necessity terminate. The congratulations and good will expressed as the friends departed measure the friendship and popularity in which Mr. and Mrs. Flannagan are held in the community. All hope for continued anniversaries and health, wealth and happiness for them.
Ref: 40th Wedding news article – Nearly fifty relatives and friends gathered Thursday at the home of M/M William P. Flannagan, to help them celebrate their fortieth anniversary. A pot luck dinner was served at noon, and open house held the rest of the day.
