Jay Judson Flannagan was born on Monday; February 5, 1917 in the Buck Creek; Delaware County, Iowa area. He was the son of W.P. and Maud Moulton, Flannagan. Jay graduated from the Buck Creek High School in 1935. He then started farming. Jay J. Flannagan and Winona Miles were married on Wednesday; December 14, 1938 at the Buck Creek Methodist Parsonage. The couple farmed in Union Township for several years. In 1949 they moved to their farm near Buck Creek. In 1976 the couple moved to Hopkinton. Jay stayed active in farming until recent years. Winona preceded Jay in death on Monday; July 13, 1998. Jay J. Flannagan age 90 of Hopkinton, passed away early Monday morning; February 5, 2007 at the Mechanicsville Care Center in Mechanicsville; Cedar County, Iowa following a brief illness. Those left to mourn his passing are his three children, Gale (Edna) Flannagan of Hopkinton; Delaware County, Iowa. Joyce (Paul) Havens of Delhi; Delaware County, Iowa. Bonnie Mull of Lisbon; Linn County, Iowa. Nine Grandchildren and twelve great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, his wife Winona, two infant daughters, a grandson, and five brothers, Jim, Dan, Doran, Franc and Lyle Flannagan. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday; February 7, 2007 at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Hopkinton. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m on Thursday; February 8, 2007 at the Buck Creek Methodist Church with burial in the Buck Creek Cemetery.
