William Hammond Pennington

William was a son of Solomon Abel Pennington and Virginia Jane Wyatt. He married Phoebe Ann Smith on December 28, 1865 in Randolph County, West Virginia. She was a daughter of Andrew Charles Smith and Elizabeth White. They had three sons Andrew Jackson Pennington, Eli P. Pennington and John Wesley Pennington (Who took the name Smith) and a daughter Eliza Jane Pennington. It is believed they separated or divorced. Though it was after is death Phoebe remarried to John S Kerns, Sr. She and John were widows as stated on their Marriage License.

Phoebe's parents raised these three sons as well as her first born Robert Lee Smith to a David B. Wyatt. And her brother Gabriel raised her son John Wesley Smith.

So far I have not been successful of finding where Eliza J Pennington lived after 1880.
