About William Philbrick
William Philbrook married Mary Neal, daughter of Walter Neal of Greenland Parrish, in Portsmouth. In 1694 or earlier he had settled there. In 1695 he was a farmer, and served as Constable.
He and his wife united with the Church in Greenland when it was organized in July 1706. They had seven children.
It seems evident that the name, although spelled Philbrick, was pronounced Philbrook and quite a number of the grandchildren of Thomas, the emigrant spelled it as it was pronounced. In 1720 Jedediah, one of the oldest and intelligent of the family spelled his name Philbrook. Hammett Papers No. III p. 109
