"An Old Citizen of Spotsylvania Dead- Mr. William A. Pritchett,one of three of the oldest men in Spotsylvania, died at hishome, near Curlew, Sunday, aged 82 years. He was anex-Confederate soldier. He is survived by one brother, Mr. B.W.Pritchett. Funeral services were held Tuesday and the intermentwas made at the family burying ground, near Sunlight. Rev. W.C. Pace officiated."Obituary says he was 82 years old, but that would put his birthbefore his parents marriage.1830 Census- Shows proper age spot for William A. Pritchett.1850 Census- Spotsylvania County VA Page: 421(A), Line 19Residence 774, Eastern DistrictSource:Spotsylvania County, Virginia Marriage Register, 1793-1853,Might have been born in 1822."There is no official record on this man. VSL roll states hewas wounded. He applied for pension in Spotsylvania Co. on5/15/1900; he received $30/year."Wm. A. Pritchett mentioned as guardian for Thaddeus L.Pritchett- payment of $0.22 on Jan 4, 1873.
