About William Eugene Quatman
Teutopolis, IL — William Eugene “Bill” Quatman, 89, of Teutopolis died at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at home.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis. Burial, with military graveside rites, will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a 7 p.m. parish wake service immediately followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to St. Francis youth for Catholic Heart Work Camp.
Mr. Quatman was born Jan. 7, 1920, in Teutopolis, the son of John and Leona (Brumleve) Quatman. He married Verena M. Thoele July 23, 1949, and she survives.
He was owner/operator of Quatman Lumber Company in Teutopolis for over 50 years. Mr. Quatman was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis, Holy Name Society, Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council 2874, Illinois Lumber Dealers Association and was a lifetime member of Effingham VFW Post 1769. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Verena of Teutopolis; sons, Bill and Jim Quatman of Teutopolis; daughter, Kay Worman of rural Dieterich (Bishop Creek); grandchildren, Travis and Derek Worman and Crystal (Jamie) Hoene, all of Dieterich; great-grandchildren, Caden and Carter Hoene; and sisters, Rosalia Hoisington of Robinson, Leona Glaub of Breese and Barbara (Roger) Worman of Teutopolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph; sister, Marcella Stockman; and son-in-law, Adolph Worman.
